Printer is that peripheral device that is being used by everyone and everywhere we see. We live in a world where everything is handy i.e., soft copy but it always doesn’t work and here comes into play printer. But what if your HP printer shows an offline error? Then how to make it online again? I have not just 1 but 5 solutions to your problem, just read it on.
1. Printer and Network Connection
When your HP printer shows offline all you need to do is check the printer and network connection. For doing this turn off your printer for 25-30 seconds and then turn it on again.
2. Use Printer Offline
For the second solution you have to check the “Use Printer Offline” setting is off or not. If it is enabled then your printer will be unable to print.
Step 1: Open Settings and go to Devices.
Step 2: Select Printers & scanners and then choose a printer device. Click on printer device and choose Open queue.
Step 3: Click Printer and uncheck the Use Printer Offline .
3. Setting as Default Printer
Step 1: Open the Printers & scanners setting. Click on the printer device and choose Open queue.
Step 2: Next tap on Printer and select Set As Default Printer.
4. Fix it via Services
This solution is only available when your HP printer uses a WSD port. If not then you should skip this method.
Step 1: Search “Services” in the Start menu and open it.
Step 2: Scroll down and look for Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication. Then, check the Status and Startup Type columns. You can right click and choose Start if the Status is not Running. For setting startup type as automatic right click them and choose properties to set them as Automatic.
5. Create a Manual IP Connection
Step 1: From the network settings or network setup menu Print a Network Configuration Page .Then check whether the network status is connected or not
in your network connection type (wired or wireless)
Step 2: If the status is not connected, then try to connect the printer to your network first. Then, look for the IP Address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway for your network connection type. Next you need the IPv4 number. Then, search for the URL(s) for the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Step 3: Now open the EWS URL in a browser. Then, click the Network/Networking > Wired/Wireless >click IPv4 Configuration. Select Manual IP> Suggest a Manual IP Address > configure the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway number according to the Network Configuration Page and then click apply
Step 4: Wait until the changes are confirmed.
Following all these solutions your problem will be solved. But still if the problem persists then you can use the IP Address to create a new TCP/IP Port. And after that you can again test printer to see whether the problem is solved.
